Walking to the Euros for Men's Mental Health Cause
Sports fans will be well aware of the Euros this summer and the fact the Scotland are there…again. Many a tartan army member will travel to Germany for the event but few are likely to set off before travel vlogger Craig Ferguson.
Craig is walking to Munich to coincide with the opening game of the competition and is raising money for Brothers in Arms, a Scottish charity who are dedicated to reducing male suicide. You can read all about their pioneering work on the Brothers in Arms website.
Walking tends to take a bit longer than the train, so he is setting off on 4th May from Hampden Park, ready to tackle a massive 1000 miles on foot. In true Scottish style he will be kilted up, so everyone knows exactly where he’s from, and Slanj had the ideal tartan for the occasion.
The Euros tartan has been designed as a vibrant homage to Scotland's Euros achievement; each thread of the tartan weaves together the team's footballing journey, drawing inspiration from the flags of Scotland's Group A opponents – Germany, Switzerland, and Hungary, while the dark blue backdrop echoes the iconic colours of the Scottish football strip.
As passionate kilt makers, we take immense pride in crafting a new tartan to commemorate the remarkable journey of the Scottish football team in the Euros. This tartan not only celebrates their triumph, but also stands as a testament to the unity and camaraderie that football brings to men throughout Scotland and beyond.
We are delighted to support Craig Ferguson in his epic challenge, walking 1000 miles to Munich, as he embodies the spirit of Scottish pride and resilience.
Craig felt it was the perfect tartan for his new kilt and will be wearing the sports version of the Euros kilt, which is an innovative, lightweight yet sturdy travel option with a plain navy-blue pleated back.
‘The idea for the tartan is magic and it goes perfectly with my retro Scotland top’ Craig told us. ‘It’s very comfortable too which is so important for this challenge’
